We remodel kitchens in Westchester County homes — the full job, not a repair. We take a kitchen down to the studs and rebuild it, or rework the layout in place.
The company has been at it since 1988. Anthony Quattrone looks at your kitchen with you, gives you the estimate, and is on the work himself. The person who prices the job is the person who runs it.
What a Kitchen Remodel With Us Includes
A full kitchen is several trades in one room. We take on all of them as one project.
Cabinets
We remove the old cabinets, repair the walls behind them, and install the new cabinets plumb and level. That includes the layout of the cabinets, the fillers, the crown, and the hardware. The cabinets set the rhythm of the whole room, so they go in first and they go in right.
Countertops
We template for the countertops after the cabinets are in, so the tops fit the actual room and not a drawing of it. The sink and the cooktop get cut in to the tops, and the seams land where they read least. We do not name a material line or a supplier; the choice of material is yours, and we install what you pick.
Flooring
We take up the old floor and the underlayment down to the subfloor, fix what we find, and put down the new floor. If the floor needs to come up to run plumbing or electrical underneath, that is part of the job, not an extra.
Plumbing fixtures
The sink, the faucet, the supply lines, and the drain are all part of the work. If the sink is moving, the drain and the supply lines move with it, and that is where the plumbing trade comes in. The plumbing work is done under the proper license.
The backsplash
The backsplash is the last tile to go in, set against the counter and between the wall cabinets. We set it plumb, keep the grout lines consistent, and finish the outlets and switches cleanly through it. A backsplash that is rushed shows in the corners and around the outlets, so it is done after the counters are in and not before.
Appliances
We set the appliances in place and make the connections the kitchen needs for them — the gas line for a range, the electric for a cooktop or wall oven, the water and the drain for a dishwasher. We do not name an appliance maker or a supplier. You buy the appliances you want, and we build the kitchen to take them.
Lighting
Recessed lights, under-cabinet lights, pendants over an island, and the switches that run them are all part of the remodel. The electrical work is done under the proper license, and it is laid out for how the kitchen is actually used, not for where the old wires happened to be.
Changing the Layout
The decision that changes a kitchen project most is whether the sink, the range, and the walls stay where they are. A kitchen where everything goes back in the same place is a replacement. A kitchen where the sink moves to an island, or where a wall comes out to open the room, is a renovation, and a renovation is a bigger job.
Moving plumbing, gas, or electrical is what turns one into the other. A drain line has to slope, and it can only go so far from the stack. A gas line has to be run and tested. An electrical circuit has to be sized for what is on it. Taking down a wall means knowing whether it is holding anything up. Any of these is usually what brings a permit into the job, because the building department wants to see the work before it gets closed up. We talk through the layout with you at the estimate, because the layout is the decision that sets the cost and the scope of everything else.
Two kitchens that look the same from the doorway can be very different jobs once the walls are open, and we would rather tell you that at the estimate than surprise you with it later. The estimate is where the layout decision gets made, and it is where you find out what your kitchen actually is, underneath.
Permits for a Kitchen in Westchester
Westchester County licenses plumbers and electricians separately from home improvement contractors. The plumbing and the electrical work on a kitchen remodel has to be done under those licenses, and it is.
Building permits are not issued by the county. They are issued by the building department of the city, town, or village the house is in, and each one has its own forms, its own review, and its own inspectors. Whether a kitchen needs a permit depends on the scope and on the municipality. We pull the permits for the work we do. We do not ask the homeowner to do it, and we do not start the work before the permit is in place.
What Drives the Cost
Our projects start at $40,000. That is the only number on this page, because a kitchen is priced by what is actually in it, and no two are the same.
The size of the room sets how much of everything there is — how many cabinets, how much counter, how much floor. Whether the layout changes is the next one: moving the sink, the range, or a wall adds plumbing, gas, electrical, and structural work that a replacement-in-place does not. The cabinets chosen are a large part of the cost, and so is the countertop material. The condition of what is behind the walls matters in an older house — a floor that has to be sistered, or wiring that has to be brought up to date, is work you cannot see until the room is opened. How much of the plumbing and electrical is being brought up to date is the last one.
The estimate is free, and it is the only honest way to price a kitchen nobody has looked at yet. We come to the house, see what is there, and put a number on it.
Who Runs Your Job
Anthony Quattrone has more than 40 years of experience in the trade, and he is hands-on. He is the one who comes to your house and gives you the estimate, and he is the one who runs the work. He has a team of ten, and the crew you meet is the crew that does the job. The kitchen is not handed to a salesman who then hands it to a crew you never see again. The person who looks at your kitchen and prices it is the person responsible for it.
Licensed, and How to Check
Westchester County requires home improvement contractors to hold a county license. The Westchester County Department of Consumer Protection issues it and keeps the list of licensed contractors. Our license number is WC-33098-H20.
You can and should check any contractor's license with the county, including ours. Call the Department of Consumer Protection at (914) 995-2155 and ask. A contractor who will not give you a license number, or whose number does not check out, is not a contractor you want in your house.
