We Are Based in Pleasantville
Westchester Premier Builders is based in Pleasantville, New York. We do not publish a street address, because the work happens at your house, not at ours. What we can tell you is that we know this village, and we know how its building department works.
Pleasantville is an incorporated village within the Town of Mount Pleasant, and it has its own building department. A lot of homeowners assume a permit here comes from the Town. It does not. That distinction matters, and it is the first thing we get right when we pull a permit for a job in the village.
Foursquares, Victorians and Usonia
Settlement here dates to 1695. The railroad arrived in 1846 and moved the commercial center to where it is now. In the late 1800s the small farms and orchards of the area were subdivided for a wave of foursquare and Victorian houses. Those houses have now had more than a century of earlier work done to them, and a remodel often means dealing with layers, not a clean starting point.
Pleasantville also holds Usonia Homes, a neighborhood of 50 houses on 100 acres of wooded hillside, started in 1948 and including three houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The mid-century houses are a different problem from the Victorians — they are younger, but they were built to a specific idea, and an addition has to respect that. Whether the house is from the 1890s or the 1940s, the right first step is to look at what is actually there.
The Village Has Its Own Building Department
People assume Pleasantville permits come from the Town of Mount Pleasant. They do not. The Village of Pleasantville has its own building department at 80 Wheeler Avenue, (914) 769-1926. That is the Village's number, not ours — our number is (914) 474-1951.
We hold a Westchester County Home Improvement License, number WC-33098-H20, and we pull the permits for the work we do through the Village department. We do not start the work before the permit is in place.
Architectural Review: Usually Not for a Single-Family House
Under the Village code the Planning Commission acts as the Board of Architectural Review, and the Building Inspector refers plans to it. Detached single- and two-family houses are generally not referred, except for houses in subdivisions approved after that rule took effect.
What that means in plain terms: a kitchen or bathroom remodel inside the existing walls, or an addition to a detached single-family house, is usually not an architectural review question in Pleasantville. The Building Inspector makes the call for your property, and we find out before we draw anything. Read more on our permits and licensing page.
What We Do in Pleasantville
We do four things, all residential: kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, home additions, and home remodeling. Our projects start at $40,000, and we do not do handyman work or small repairs.
Anthony Quattrone has more than 40 years of experience and is on the job himself. The estimates are free, and the work carries a one-year warranty. If your project is a full kitchen, a full bathroom, an addition, or a multi-room renovation, call us or request a free estimate.
